Fantastic Idea for hot soups on the go and for a quick snack meal
Maggi “Moment Mahl“
The Nestlé Product Technology Centre in germany designed a practical collapsible-cup packaging for instant soups. The packaging is remarkable due to the combination of a flexible stand-up pouch that contains the product and a folding paperboard part that turns into a convenient cup upon squeezing the top rim of the pouch.

Special of the packaging for “Moment Mahl“ soups is that the soup bowl is already integrated in the pouch. The consumer just has to tear off the top edge of the foil and squeeze the surrounding paperboard ring at the marked locations until the cup clicks, creating a stable soup terrine. Then he/she pours boiling water into the cup, stirs, waits three minutes, after which the soup can be enjoyed.

EGG in a box! This is amazing technology and I only hope we can see more development and retail use.

Kian Gogol Mogol egg carton
We have seen quite some new developments in self-heating and/or self-cooling technology for packaging. Some time ago I gave a full overview of packaging innovations in self-heating technology. It is a market very much on the move and moving from beverage cans to other packaging formats. In my previous article I already mentioned the self-heating stand-up pouch and now we come to something special.

The Russian design firm Kian came up with an egg packaging, called Gogol Mogol, which is more than just an egg carton. It “boils” the egg in the packaging.
This unique egg carton concept is made out of recycled paperboard, while the packaging also holds a means to “boil” the eggs stored inside, as Gogol Mogol egg carton comes with a not-specified substance under the first paperboard layer, separated by a membrane which can be removed when a small label is pulled off. This causes the substance to mix and followed by a chemical reaction, which is enough to heat up the egg stored inside.
Grocery cart
Within a few minutes, when the consumer opens the cover of the egg packaging, he/she has a boiled egg. It is quite a unique concept that combines an egg package and a way to cook it as well.
It is a very interesting development in self-heating, but whether it will be available as a commercial product still remains to be seen. It will be a pity to see this innovation going to waste.

The reuse sector is heating up and nuts are not without the whole sharing concept
Containers Printers Pte Ltd in Singapore created the solution by designing the two-way stand-up pouch. As the consumer opens the packaging, an additional stand-alone stand-up pouch is formed. This acts as a litter bowl for unwanted waste. No longer does the consumer require a dust bin to consume, he or she can now be on “the move” and consume simultaneously without littering the street.
The unique feature of this two-way stand-up pouch is that it is not only convenient to use but also environmentally friendly.

Tap The Cap

I think this is unique and simple in its design and execution it allows you the consumer to buy a lower price point water or fill your own filtered waters into a container with a 26mm-32mm neck and fill with whatever you need.
Sports drinks, medical supplemental and just good old fashioned tasty water.

The Single-Serve Cap
On the face of it the Single-Serve Cap™ of the Californian company Tap-The-Cap looks like any other dispensing cap as it has to dispense a supplement (vitamins, flavours, nutrients) through a bottle neck opening and into the bottle. But it is much more than the dispensing caps as we know them.
One of the most intriguing features of the Single-Serve Cap is its configuration to automatically connect to bottle necks with a circumference between 26mm-32mm. That translates into all known water bottles and brands in the market worldwide.

And as, generally speaking, bottled water is typically sold at lower price points, companies creating a nutraceutical supplement don’t have to design and manufacture a bottle and ship heavy loads of water everywhere. They just sell the Single-Serve Cap™ holding the nutraceutical and profit from the fact that the consumer can consume its own preferred water brand, buying it around the corner. Even the bottle of premium water, positioned as a higher-end product, can be accommodated by the Single-Serve Cap.
And what do you think of a cocktail shot with a tropical flavour. Buy a Single-Serve Cap with the cocktail shot, a bottle of juice and enjoy your freshly made tropical cocktail on-the-go.

The idea of a cup that holds drink and food stuffs has been around for years but the question of will the drink make my nuggets cold or will the heat from hot food make my drink warm has never left us. If it is indeed another receptacle for dipping then you might just get away with it.

Brazil – Agile Pack
Fabio Pereira da Silva, director of Una Design in Bento Gonçalves came up with a product idea to provide fast-food companies with a packaging, where the food and soft drinks served become more practical and adapted to the daily lives of the modern users.

The Expanding Bowl for Freeze Dried food
The expanding bowl is made out of a 100% biobased and biodegradable material (special carton), invented by Innventia.
When pouring hot water into the package the mechano-active material will react to the heat and transform from a compressed packaging to a serving bowl.
The designers claim that this is the new generation of sustainable package design, using materials that are both smart and environmentally friendly.

Zip-Box is a product that allows the sealing of a re-close poly bag, with the rigidity of a carton board box. It is sift proof and great for products that you use and place back on shelf for later. It also holds the marketing and graphic presentation while in the pantry unlike most bags or pouches that are dispensed into another plastic container
Zippack -  introduced Zip360™, the first resealable side-gusseted pouch with a wide-mouth opening. Ideal for snacks, frozen foods, pet food and treats and a variety of other applications, this innovative pouch style allows consumers to easily scoop or pour contents. Zip360™ also enables full-panel graphics to maximize shelf-impact at the point of purchase.

These packaging ideas are both eye catching and different with a twist of fun thrown in.

Fit buns are just that a product made with the health conscience in mind!

The Pack speaks for itself really, there is nothing I can say but clever!

This is such an amazingly simple yet fun way to keep unwanted hands off your lunch in the fridge at work.

For those people who like to indulge without people knowing exactly what’s on your desk!
The "Bla Bla" pack is fun and simple.

The way in which this has been slap dash put together with the black on white makes it so today from a marketing perspective.

The tea bag hangers are fun and functional as the hanger aids in the use as well as storage.

In ear headphones are all over but the unique way in which this pack uses the musical symbology is different and instantly recognisable.

The graphic speaks for itself

Soup flavours that jump out at you, the contents are bursting out of the bowl to denote the flavour inside.

"The Bees Knees" honey packaging that is loaded with fun and instantly recognisable. the bee confetti is just another additive to make the pack interactive with the consumer.
Student Idea of the month!!!!
I am not sure knowing the speed at which the fast food sellers have to complete meals that this would save time or space aganst a simple paper bag but it is a good effective idea and design. well done.

You'd think that after decades of taking out our favourite fast food, someone, somewhere would have come up with a clever way of carrying your drink at the same time as your burger and fries. Well, this innovative packaging design sets out to do just that - plus it ticks a lot of boxes in terms of sustainable design.
Comprising one, simple cardboard cut-out, this one-handed solution to transporting was created by student Seulbi Kim. Essentially, it enables you to safely pack away your burger and fries before adding your drink to the middle hole. With small handles at the top, this is a design that could really work.
