Packaging - Top 10 Changing Consumer Habits

Social media is allowing us to post pictures of our food and food experience, good or bad. it allows us to share what we like and influence others in an equal way. Pintrest, Facebook, Google + ! we are all sharing at a rate of knots so as consumers we are up to date almost instantly if someone has a good or bad experience with a product or service!
As consumers we want to know more about where our food comes from and how it got to us!

Consumers are shedding their own preconceived conceptions and boundaries around food consumption and trying new and different tastes to excite their taste buds. Cooking shows and reality TV is influencing the need to experience the new!


I am not sure if I believe this one or not but! The market information states we are becoming a world of eaters rather than cooks! we crave new tastes but are looking to have it prepared for us or in the case of sauces have them pre packed and easy to use.

Food is now an "Eat on a whim" the roadside pantry is becoming an ever increasing trend with times to and from Work and appointments for work increasing.

Traditions are shattered with only 20% of primary shoppers being mums! They account for less than 1/3rd of the food eaten at home. 


In the US now 20% of homes or living spaces are single occupant!

of all the adult eating 46% is alone so we demand greater taste and portability of our food and products in general.


Snacking now comprises of 53% of all eating but we demand healthy and easy to get.

shopping is changing and we don't all shop in one place for all our food needs. there are small local specialist shops open for whatever cuisine you need.
